Our Mission:
The Belmont Actuarial Students Society of Belmont University is dedicated to helping students pass actuarial exams and aiding in their preparation for the actuarial profession. It facilitates communication among students and forms relationships between students and prospective employers. The club provides a variety of activities and services to its members, including exam preparation sessions, lectures from current actuaries in the field, campus wide events promoting awareness of actuarial science, resume workshops, discussions about the different types of insurance, recruiting information, social events, etc.
The Belmont Actuarial Students Society provides an opportunity for members to learn more about future uses of mathematics and actuarial science by sponsoring speakers and discussion panels. It provides an opportunity for current mathematics majors in the actuarial science program to meet and interact with fellow classmates and alumni, allowing them to expand their network and to learn more about their particular field. This club will be of particular interest to students interested in mathematics, actuarial science, insurance work, or graduate school.
Our mission is to provide a nurturing community for students with an interest in Actuarial Science, and to foster a social, cultural and intellectual forum in which students can discuss relevant academic and business issues. The club also assists students interested in careers as actuaries by providing informational presentations, lectures, interviewing opportunities, and exam study groups.
In order to inspire a general interest in Actuarial Science and related fields, this club encourages participation from students in all disciplines and backgrounds, not only those majoring in mathematical or business fields. The organization will facilitate a variety of activities and events both on and off campus, with a particular eye toward practically assisting students to identify and cultivate potential career paths in the financial sector. We have no political, cultural, physical, economic, or ideological affiliations or biases, and welcome diverse points of view.
This organization needs to be formed because there is an increasing interest in the field and career opportunities of actuarial science on Belmont’s campus and no support structure to offer resources. Belmont students would profit greatly from this opportunity.
